This Quarter's Beers

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout
ABV: 14.1%

Bourbon barrel-aged candy bar imperial stout with peanuts, cocoa powder, cacao nibs, salt, and dulce de leche It just So Happens you’re not yourself when you’re thirsty, so we wrapped up this confection stout with a rich medley of cocoa powder, cacao nibs, dulce de leche, peanuts, and salt. Rich, chocolatey notes envelop sweet caramel and peanuts, alongside oaky, vanilla tones from bourbon barrel aging in this savory treat worth sharing. 750-ml. Bottle Access Level: Hoarders, Reserve

Barrel-Aged Old Ale
ABV: 17.1%

Ale aged in bourbon barrels Le douzième anniversaire of The Bruery brings another celebratory ale true to tradition. The masterful Solera blending method combined with bourbon barrel-aging builds layers of complexity with a portion of each year’s anniversary ale. With notes of toffee and vanilla balancing perfectly with dark fruit and oak characters, Soie truly serves up a Bruer’s dozen. 750-ml. Bottle Access Level: Hoarders, Reserve, Preservation, Public

Tart of Darkness with Raspberry and Vanilla (2021)

Barrel-Aged Sour Stout
ABV: 7.1%

Bourbon barrel-aged sour stout with raspberries and vanilla beans Be warned— this iteration of Tart of Darkness has a dash of villainy to it. This version was aged in barrels that previously held our criminally popular Vanilla Villain. The addition of raspberries and vanilla beans on the finish makes for a unique drinking experience we know you’ll remember. 750-ml. Bottle Access Level: Hoarders, Reserve

Train to Beersel (2019)

Barrel-Aged Imperial Sour Blonde
ABV: 8.4%

Imperial sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels Inspired by a trip to Belgium and designed to resemble the character of lambic found in the town of its namesake, Train to Beersel showcases a slightly higher ABV than you’ll find in most other lambics. As such, the body of the beer is more pronounced, adding a certain roundness to the sour notes while elevating the customary level of funk. Additional complexity is derived from extensive aging in once used French Oak Cabernet Sauvignon barrels and once used American Oak Sauvignon Blanc barrels, and by utilizing the time-honored tradition of bottle conditioning with Brettanomyces Lambicus. It’s an inviting combination that’s full of nuanced turns - and an excursion that’s rarely replicated on this side of the globe. 750-ml. Bottle Access Level: Hoarders, Reserve, Preservation

This place is a must stop for any lover of beer. I recently became a preservation soscirty member, to get my feet wet in the Bruery pool, and I'm already regretting not going bigger. I'm in love with this place. Went out of my way to stop in on the way from SLO to San Diego.

The fiance and I became members of the preservation society last year. If you are a fan of great beers, I highly recommend you to do the same.

Let us lay out the FAQs

We understand that users sometime may experience an issue logging into their account when trying to view their allocations, especially on mobile devices. Try the following steps and if you continue to have trouble reach out to us at .

1. Log out of your account and log back in. The black button at the top right of your screen (Account Login) should read "My Account" when properly logged in.

2. Clear your browser's cache or use an alternate browser.

3. Try logging in via a desktop browser vs. a mobile browser.

Due to the regulatory nature of shipping alcoholsomeone 21 years or older must be available to receive and sign for your beer package. To ensure all shipments work with your schedule, we place included beers, including Preservation Society boxes, into your cellar for you to ship when you’re ready.

Select West if you plan to pick up at our location in CA or you plan to ship your beer within CA. Choose East if you’d prefer to pick up in D.C. or ship to one of our shipping-eligible states – D.C., ND, NH, OH, PA, VA, and VT.

Why the difference? Your choice of West or East determines where your product is shipped from due to shipping rates, inventory, and other logistics. This helps save you (and us) time and money so you can enjoy your beer faster.

We make a LOT of beer, and we want to make sure you’re getting access to your favorites! If you prefer to stick to barrel-aged stouts, barleywines, ales, and the like, Barrel-Aged is for you. If you’d like some tart and funky options mixed in with the barrel-aged stuff, choose Mixed.

What if I want more? Your choice of Barrel-Aged or Mixed only determines your included beer (1 bottle per month for Reserve Society, up to 2 bottles per month for Hoarders Society). You still have access to purchase additional bottles from that month’s releases, from which you can get whatever sounds best!

In short, we are adjusting our offerings to keep up with demand of styles and preferences. Our wild and sour ales from The Bruery - Terreux aren’t going anywhere, but we are scaling back production to allow more focus on fewer, more select sour and wild beers in the future. If you’re wanting sour and wild ales included in your membership, then the Mixed option is the way to go.

There are many ways to get your beer. Each month, when the new releases are ready, they will be added to your virtual cellar within your account at

Selecting your beer(s) for fulfillment via Pickup or Shipping is easy. Navigate to your account, then to your cellar and place any cellared items in your cart. From there, proceed through checkout and select your preferred fulfillment option.

Simply put, no. We'd love to accommodate; however, due to the limited nature of these beers, we are unable to change your preference type for included bottles in the middle of the year. That being said, most beers are available to purchase even if they're not included in your membership.

Absolutely! All you need to do is include their name in the email you send to or, otherwise you can list them in the order notes field while placing an order on the online store.

Guest access cards grant the holder the same privileges as a member in our Tasting Rooms and the Washington D.C. store. That means whoever has your guest access card will receive your member discount along with member access. Hoarders receive 2 guest access cards, while Reserve members receive 1.

We plan to release one included bottle per month, at minimum. You can check which bottles are included and when by logging into your account clicking on the "included" tab.

Your included bottles will automatically populate in your cellar as soon as they are available to you. To view your cellar, just log in to your account, and click on "my cellar" to see which beers are available to ship or pick up.

Each month we release a flurry of new beers, with members always getting first dibs. Your allocations are just the number of bottles or cans allocated to you as a member to purchase. Until it's sold out, you have the access to buy the allocated number of each beer, throughout the month. These beers are typically Society-exclusive releases, member-only presales on limited distribution beers, special archives pulled out from our cellar, or first access on returning favorites.

No, you will need to cancel your Preservation Society membership when you join the Reserve Society— unless you’d like to keep both memberships (many members do this so you get discounted access to the quarterly packs in addition to your included & society-specific monthly releases!)
