Bruery Terreux Hoarders Cuvée (2017)
Blend of bourbon barrel-aged ale, oak-aged sour ales, and a blonde ale with lemon zest and vanilla
An invitation to join our Hoarders Society is the ultimate nod in how far you’ve come in your craft beer journey. Each year as a member, you get access to some of the most elusive and exclusive beers (such as this) and one-of-a-kind experiences, like going toe-to-toe with your peers in blending sessions exclusive to Hoarders.
This cuvée was the bakeoff champion at the Hoarders Cuvée blending tournament, selected to be produced by Bruery Terreux in 2017. Created by Dan Bridges, Josh Chance, Paul Moore and Shellie Rancilio and constructed to feature the flavors found in a lemon meringue pie cookie, our batter begins with a special cookie-inspired beer, brewed with sweet malts to mimic the base of the baked treat. We then add dollops of lemony character from two different tart, oak-aged sour ales, plus lemon zest to the final blend to further accentuate the bright, fresh, citrusy flavor. To complete the meringue profile, we fold in sweet bourbon barrel-aged ale and add vanilla from Hawaii to the full mix as well, catapulting the creaminess and icing-like qualities between each layered sip.
