It’s Tuesday. And in two weeks, Black Tuesday. The 2016 edition of our 20.3% ABV bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout brings a seemingly roaring combination of flavors – vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate and singed oak, to name a few – into a decadent, sophisticated fusion that’s fit to claim its own day of the week. And it only comes around once a year: the last Tuesday in October – Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

Here are the details surrounding the 2016 public release of Black Tuesday.

Public Sale

As in years past, a limited number of bottles will be available for sale to the public. In previous years, we conducted a lottery – winners were randomly selected and we notified them of their opportunity to purchase Black Tuesday. This lottery process was partly necessary due to constraints of our previous online platform (and the continuous crave and demand for Black Tuesday, which Patrick initially called “the beer from hell” – see the post).

Fast forward to present day and we have a new, more robust, scalable online platform for conducting online sales. As such, the 2016 public release of Black Tuesday will be conducted live on our website, TheBrueryStore.com, on Black Tuesday itself.

• Limit: Three bottles per person (first-come, first-served)
• Retail price: $29.99 plus tax

The sale is open to all customers, including Society members, who currently have guaranteed access to purchase bottles of Black Tuesday as part of their October allocations (through Friday, October 21). Reserve and Hoarders Society members will receive an extra allocation of Black Tuesday (first-come, first-served) on Monday, October 24.

A Note on the Online Sale

We will be monitoring the Black Tuesday Public Sale on Tuesday, October 25 closely. Black Tuesday will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Simply adding beer to your cart does not guarantee availability – you must fully check out with a credit card to ensure your order is placed. If the product appears temporarily unavailable, keep checking. Please monitor The Bruery Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for notices, especially for notification when we are officially soldout.

Don’t Leave it to Chance

Black Tuesday only sees one major release per year.From time to time, we release a very limited quantity for special archive sales. The only way to guarantee access to Black Tuesday is by joining one of our Societies. Our Preservation Society members currently enjoy guaranteed access to three bottles of Black Tuesday: two are available to purchase on TheBrueryStore.com through October 21, and one is included in the Fourth Quarter Preservation Society package (ready for pickup/delivery in mid-December).

Pickup & Shipping Details and Deadlines

Public pickup / shipping (within the state of California) begins on Friday, November 4. If the special public bottle pickup option is selected for Black Tuesday by a customer during checkout, bottles must be picked up from our Society Fulfilment Center (741 Dunn Way, Placentia, CA) by December 31, 2016. Any bottles not picked up by the public at this time will be shipped to the customer’s address on file and charged at the customer’s expense. If the address on file is not a valid California address or we are unable to assess shipping charges on a customer’s credit card on file, we will refund the customer’s purchase and bottles will be forfeit.

If you would like to name someone else (we call them “trustees”) to pickup beer for you, list his or her name in the “Trustee” box at checkout. Alternatively, beer shipping (for an additional cost) is available only in California through Golden State Overnight. An adult, 21 years of age or older, must be present to receive and sign for the delivery. Public shipping begins on Friday, November 4.

Society Members Pickup / Delivery

Preservation Society members have until the end of Q1 2017 to ship/pickup any purchases made in Q4 2016. This includes Black Tuesday. Black Tuesday will be ready for pickup/delivery beginning Friday, November 4. The Fourth Quarter Preservation Society package, which includes a bottle of Black Tuesday, will be ready for pickup/delivery in mid-December.

2016 Reserve and Hoarders Society members have until March 31, 2017 to ship/pickup purchases from 2016 allocations. This includes Black Tuesday. Reserve and Hoarders Society members attending the Black Tuesday Release Party can pickup bottles of Black Tuesday on Tuesday, October 25. Pickup/delivery begins for all other Reserve and Hoarders Society members the following day.

Tasting Room / Draft Release

While our Reserve and Hoarders Society members enjoy access to our Society-exclusive Black Tuesday Release Party, which will feature unlimited samples of nearly 30 Black Tuesday vintages and variants, unlimited pairings from Urge Gastropub and Brother Provisions, live music, specialty glassware and more, our Tasting Rooms will also be pouring Black Tuesday on the big day itself.

In addition to tapping Black Tuesday (2016) on Tuesday, October 25, we plan to offer a vintage Black Tuesday flight, featuring 1-oz. pours of the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of Black Tuesday, at both The Bruery Tasting Room and Bruery Terreux Tasting Room.

If, for any reason the sale is not capable of running as planned, including, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of The Bruery, which, in The Bruery’s sole determination, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this sale, The Bruery reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the sale. Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Bruery from any and all liability arising out of or relating in any way to customers’ participation and to release all rights to bring any claim, action or proceeding against The Bruery. The Bruery reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any person they suspect or find: (i) to have tampered with the process or the operation; (ii) to be acting in a disruptive manner, or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person; (iii) or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules. Any violation of these Official Rules by will result in such person’s disqualification.

ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAW AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE BRUERY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEY‘S FEES) FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
