The East Coast is getting The Bruery Store
Fans have travelled far and wide for our experimental and barrel-aged beers since we opened our doors in Orange County in 2008. From an unassuming corner unit in a business complex that housed our first brewhouse and Tasting Room, we’ve methodically grown our footprint and capabilities while establishing new brands, Societies for our biggest fans, distribution into new markets and a second Tasting Room at our facility at Bruery Terreux.
The list goes on, but there’s one thing we’ve never been bold enough to attempt: establishing a brick-and-mortar presence east of the Mississippi. That is, until now.
This fall, we’re branching out and bringing our beer directly to the East Coast by opening a premier retail store that’s within driving distance for thousands of fans of independent craft beer. Located in the heart of one of Washington, D.C.’s most exciting urban villages, The Bruery Store at Union Market District will provide easy access for Society members to pickup online purchases, along with onsite bottle and can sales, merchandise, gifts and potentially eight rotating taps for growler/crowler fills for Society members and the general public.
Today, we couldn’t be more excited to share details with you. Here’s what you can expect.
Features of The Bruery Store at Union Market District
Pickup of online beer purchases of our most limited and exclusive releases for Society members, plus select online bottle releases for public pickup.
Onsite bottle and can sales of popular and special releases from The Bruery, Bruery Terreux and Offshoot Beer Co.
Potentially up to eight rotating taps for growler/crowler fills of beers from The Bruery, Bruery Terreux and Offshoot Beer Co., including year-round beers, limited releases and archive treats.
Collectible merchandise and gifts.
Shared space with a retail partner, to be announced at a later date.
Why D.C.?
Our beer is distributed in nearly 30 states, including Washington, D.C. So why put roots down for our first retail store outside of California in the nation’s capital? There are several reasons. Washington, D.C., provides a central location for states along the East Coast to access our beer. The city and surrounding area also boast a vibrant community and appetite for independent craft beer. In addition, a number of members in our Hoarders Society, Reserve Society and Preservation Society live in and around the area, and certainly within driving distance, making it easier than ever for them to pickup online bottle purchases of our most limited and exclusive releases at our D.C. store. What’s more, our D.C. presence also makes our beer more attainable for new East Coast fans to join our Societies and connect with us on a deeper level.
About the Location
Located in the heart of one of D.C.’s most exciting and growing urban villages at 513 Morse St. NE, across the street from Union Market.
5,000 sq. ft., shared with a notable partner, to be announced at a later date.
Recently renovated two-story building, which opened in 1931 as a small, independent butcher shop, Kramer & Sons.
The location will employ approximately five people.
Timing
The American Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will our store, located less than two miles north of Capitol Hill. However, we are making progress, with plans to open in about three months.
The Bruery Store at Union Market District is scheduled to open as early as this November for public bottle pickups of Black Tuesday (2017), on sale to the public on October 24 via TheBrueryStore.com. Public bottle pickups of Black Tuesday (2017) will be available for approximately two months following the opening of our D.C. location. Onsite retail sales of bottles, merchandise and potentially growlers/crowlers to current and renewing Society members, as well as the general public, are scheduled to begin when the store opens as well.
Society memberships for the 2018 calendar year will be available this fall. Current and prospective members will be able to select a membership option that includes unlimited shipping of online beer purchases to The Bruery Store at Union Market District for pickup. As beer is brewed and packaged in California, the price of a D.C. membership includes the freight of shipping the beer from California to our Washington D.C. location. Aside from that, pricing for a DC membership and CA membership is the same. Memberships for D.C. order fulfillment will be available to the public, first-come, first-served, beginning in mid-October.
Additional details on the release of Black Tuesday (2017) and joining our Reserve Society for 2018 will be shared in the upcoming weeks and months.
