The Bruery Provisions Opens in Old Towne Orange
Orange, CA – After months of preparation and city approvals, The Bruery Provisions is set to officially open their doors this week in Old Towne Orange. Nestled in one of the historical buildings lining Glassell Ave, just north of the circle, The Bruery Provisions is an offshoot of the production brewery of the same name. While Placentia’s The Bruery has been garnering fans nation wide for over two years now (their Oude Tart won a gold medal at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup this past year), their Provisions store is set to take customers to a new level of beer, wine and even cheese appreciation.
“All of us at The Bruery have a great appreciation for beer,” says founder Patrick Rue, “we drink beer in the same way as many people drink wine. We stop to examine a beer’s nuances so that we can get the full experience.” It is this love for beer, and all things delicious, that led Patrick and crew to create The Bruery Provisions. “We wanted to build a place where people could sample all styles of beer, wine and cheese, learn about it and then take some home to share with friends and family.”
The Bruery Provisions’ beer selection is obviously their focus and is far from mundane. While they of course stock an entire refrigerator door with their own locally made beers, they also have some extremely unique offerings from across the globe. Customers can find everything from Central California’s Just Outstanding IPA from Kern River Brewing to hardly pronounceable sour beers from Belgium like Drie Fonteinen’s Schaerbeekse Kriek. The several hundred beers straddling the store may cast a shadow on the wine selection, but it definitely doesn’t outshine their careful selection of delectable wines from small vintners around California and abroad.
The Bruery Provisions will also satisfy the cheese connoisseur among us. Having hired a former specialty food manager from Whole Foods to customize the gastronomy aspect, the cheese selection is nothing to laugh about. Try one of the signature cheese plates while enjoying a few of the 30 draft beers or 8 wines served in taster flights in the back half of the store and you might just fall in love with something stinky. Said tasting area is probably the heart of the store.
“We aren’t yet in 100% functionality, but as we move forward, stock our shelves further and get a feeling for our customers, we plan to start using the tasting portion for weekly classes on both beer and wine,” General Manager, Stef Ferrari tells us. “We’re here to help people further understand what they enjoy and steer them in the right direction for their purchases.”
The Bruery Provisions is open Sunday through Wednesday from noon to 8pm and Thursday through Saturday from noon to 10pm. Stop by for beer, wine, cheese and specialty foods while enjoying a tasting flight while you are at it. You can follow them on twitter @brueryprovisie or like them at facebook.com/brueryprovisions
