A biere de garde base beer brewed with roasted zucchini, fennel seed and lemon peel and aged on cedar. The resulting beer is a relatively sweet biere de garde with just a hint of vegetal character from the squash and a delightful citrus finish. This was brewed as a response to the Pizza Quest challenge from our friends at Pizzeria Basta in Boulder Colorado. Chef Kelly Whitaker baked up a special pizza pie and challenged us to create a beer to pair with it.
